"It is important to me that patients participate in their own care. Often, the lifestyle changes that a person makes are as important as any medication that is prescribed or test that is ordered. I try to make certain that both the patient and I know the rationale for a medication or test when it is ordered. All that I can do as a physician is to recommend therapy. The patient is the one that is responsible for carrying out the recommendation given."

Her approach to patient care is very personable. "I love to laugh and have fun during my work day."

When not busy caring for her patients, Dr. Hedberg loves being outdoors, traveling (having been to most countries in Central America, several in South America, Africa, and the Middle East), reading, history, and learning about local sites.
