What To Do About the Flu

Hudson Physicians currently has the following flu vaccines available.  Both seasonal and H1N1 flu vaccinations are now available to all memebers of the general public.

Seasonal flu injectable vaccine for ages 6 months and older

Seasonal flu mist vaccine for ages 2-49 years

H1N1 injectable vaccine for ages 6 months and older

H1N1 flu mist vaccine for ages 2-49 years

The Department of Health Services (DHS) announced that public health departments and private health care providers have been notified they may start vaccinating members of the general public. However, DHS has instructed all health care providers to continue efforts to reach out to and vaccinate those in the CDC target groups including: pregnant women, persons who live with or provide care for infants age 6 months or younger, healthcare and emergency medical services personnel, all people from 6 months through 24 years of age, and persons 25-64 years of age with conditions associated with higher risk of complications from influenza. Complications from Influenza
 
Watch for complications of influenza. Complications are more common in individuals with health conditions such as diabetes, heart, and lung problems, but may occur in anyone who has the flu.
 
 
Call your healthcare provider if the ill person:
 
Has difficulty breathing, fast breathing, or bluish color to the skin or lips.
 
Begins coughing up blood.
 
Shows signs of dehydration and cannot take enough fluids.
 
Does not respond or communicate appropriately or appears confused.
 
Complains of pain or pressure in the chest.
 
Has convulsions (seizures).
 
Is getting worse again after appearing to improve.
 
Is an infant younger than 2 months old with fever, poor feeding, urination less than 3 times per day, or other signs of illness.
